Hemispheres (36/1-4) – Top hole

What happened:

When making up 18 3/4″ WHH to No Cross joint it was very tight clearance for upper and lower jaws to grip on pipe and not on the extended box on the No Cross joint.

What was planned:

Used 1 3 3/8″ No Cross joint in casing string as last joint before making up 18 3/4″ WHH.

What was learned:

The length of the box on the No Cross joint must be shorter than the distance between upper and lower jaws on the casing tong.

What actions are required:

Supplier of casing running equipment should check/ confirm distance between upper and lower jaws is longer than the box length on the No Cross joint.

What Was Done

Made up connection as planned but with very tight clearance for upper and lower jaws to grip on pipe and not on the extended box on the No Cross joint.
